Ambassador

We are delighted to introduce Alan Stroud, as the 2018 Golden Oldies World Football Festival Ambassador.

Football runs through Alan Stroud's blood. His father, Arthur, was a New Zealand representative and Alan followed him to that status in 1985 – both were goal-keepers. He played his last international game in 1995.

Originally from Auckland, Alan Stroud studied at the University of Otago in Dunedin and made his mark on the national scene by playing for Dunedin City in the National Soccer League.

When completing his studies and moving to Christchurch, he turned out for Christchurch United, one of the dominant clubs in New Zealand's old national league.

Once that phase of his playing career was over Stroud played for Rangers in the city competition, the side now being known as the Coastal Spirit. Now he's on the club's board.

Stroud still coaches football and keeps in touch by playing for the over-45s in the Masters grades of the game.
